Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator
Purpose: The Volunteer Coordinator works directly with the Executive Director and Farm Manager to provide continuous support to fulfill our mission, care for our resident rescued animals and support our staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, interview, schedule and occasionally manage on-site and off-site volunteers
- answer all inquiries in a timely manner
- keep volunteer application form up-to-date
- advertise and keep volunteer job postings updated
- Communicate volunteer appreciation throughout the year
- Meet and communicate regularly with Executive Director to ascertain volunteer needs
- Assess and counsel or carry out disciplinary action as needed to ensure volunteers are following protocols and policies
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Valid current driver’s license
- Ability to plan and organize programs and supervise volunteer work
- Excellent communication, verbal and written, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to recruit the right individuals for the volunteer role and keep them motivated
- Strong ability to resolve conflicts and mentor staff
- Dedication to the Graze mission and a vegan lifestyle
- Knowledge of and experience in using Facebook, word processing and other applications as needed to perform tasks and keep up to date database records
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours/week

Description
Graze in Peace is a farm animal sanctuary and learning center located on 20 acres just north of Portland, Maine. Our current rescued residents include chickens, turkeys, pigs, goats, sheep and llamas. Along with sanctuary to over 60 farmed animals, we offer humane education, community outreach, and therapeutic Care Farm activities where displaced, disadvantaged or disabled people can come use the therapeutic setting of our rescue farm as a place for healing and learning.
