NWSDS is looking for a committed volunteer Administrative Assistant who is able to assist the Nutrition Services team with the following administrative tasks, which vary depending on assignment but may include:

  • Clerical duties: Responding to phone calls and e-mails, processing and maintaining program records, processing mail, ordering office supplies, filing, and other tasks as needed.
  • Fundraising: Customizing thank you letter on letterhead, addressing and printing envelopes, and maintaining program’s donor base in Excel.
  • Entering Data: Inputting monthly statistics into program specific systems and excel spread sheets.
  • Providing support: Assisting program staff, program volunteers, and consumers

Qualifications

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills including keyboarding, entering data, and creating, customizing and editing MS Word and Excel documents
  • Basic office skills including , writing, filing, following directions
  • Ability to professionally represent the program and agency.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of diverse individuals.

Requirements

  • Complete application
  • Successfully complete a criminal and background check
  • Provide own transportation
  • Assist at least 3 hours per week during regular business hours
  • One-year minimum commitment

Description

NorthWest Senior & Disability Services (NWSDS) is a local intergovernmental agency that was created in 1982. Designated as the Area Agency on Aging for Clatsop, Marion, Polk, Tillamook and Yamhill Counties. NWSDS is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and arranging services for seniors and people with disabilities in these five counties.

Funds for the operation of NWSDS and its programs come from the federal and state government, as well as from community groups and individual donations. NWSDS also relies heavily on dedicated and compassionate volunteers who serve in the following programs:

  • Meals on Wheels
  • Senior Dining Centers
  • Oregon Money Management Program
  • SHIBA (Medicare Counselors)
  • Peer Mentoring Program
  • Advisory Councils
