River Assessment Field Team
Day and Time: Every Monday and Tuesday from 9am-noon (volunteers are not required to come to all events)
Location: Various locations in Mission Valley and Santee
Do you enjoy way finding and trail blazing adventures? Join The San Diego River Park Foundation's River Assessment Volunteer Field Team to perform reconnaissance on different segments of the San Diego River!
Volunteers will hike off-trail segments of our river to identify and document threats to the river’s health, including trash, storm water debris, and illegal dumping. You can be a citizen scientist and help improve the future of our river!
- Use a mapping app to collect and share data along the river
- Experience the great outdoors while giving back
- Be part of the solution. Data collected is used by trash removal teams, researchers, community members and policy makers.
- Get off the beaten path and explore different sections of the River in your community!
The ideal volunteer will be comfortable with off-trail hiking, navigation, and working near people experiencing homelessness. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older. Community service hours are not available for this activity.
