Outside of building

To provide regularly scheduled supportive services to elderly or disabled adults in need of social and recreational engagement. As a senior companion volunteer, you are responsible for leading one-on-one or small group activities while at the Johnson Adult Day Program.

Appropriate tasks, but not limited to, are as follows:

  • Companionship and reminiscing.
  • Encourage client to maintain relationships and communication with family, friends, and other community interests.
  • Accompany to social or recreation activities.
  • Play games or cards, assist with hobbies, share handwork and crafts or other activities of special interest to the client.
  • Write letters, read, assist with phone calls.
  • Encourage participation and assist with life skills such as cleaning or painting.
