I&R Assistant for Senior Focus
Job Supervisor: Deborah Owdom
Volunteer assists staff in providing Information & Referral to messages that are tracked on the Senior Focus I&R Line.
Volunteer times: Monday-Friday
Scheduled 2-Hour Shifts
Morning or Afternoon
Volunteers will be provided adequate training and supervision to perform the functions of this Volunteer Opportunity.
Volunteers will retrieve messages from the Senior Focus Information & Referral telephone line or log book, and determine the appropriate referral to an agency or organization that can assist, help or resolve the issue and/or concern. Volunteers will return the call and provide appropriate, researched information.
If the message is urgent, the volunteer will seek the assistance of the Program Supervisor if needed. If the message and/or need is too complex for a simple referral, the volunteer will immediately bring it to the attention of the Program Supervisor.
Volunteers will be provided the resources that they need to research appropriate referrals (Help at Home Directory, Network of Care website, other Information & Assistance Providers, etc.)
Orientation and background checks provided by Mills-Peninsula Medical Center Auxiliary. Required for volunteers.

RSVP is administered by the Corporation for National & Community Service, the federal agency that supports service and volunteering programs to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement. We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
