This is a 12-month program, volunteers will begin their Internship on the island of Bali living and working at our education centre there. Interns are expected to lead informal English classes, help to plan, organise and execute community-based projects either from the centre or in wider communities the centre serves. Interns will be based in Bali for 4 months, during this time they will be trained on the operational procedures required to oversee the successful management of an IHF Education Centre. On completion of their time in Bali Interns will then relocate to one of IHFs other education centres in either Medan or Jakarta. Both centres will present the intern with unique challenges in terms of management of local volunteers, recruitment, training as well as being responsible for the centres PR & Marketing, Finance, Media and local and international fundraising.

Overview

In keeping with our vision of a world where global leaders have had meaningful cross-cultural experiences, the International Humanity Foundation (IHF) developed the Global Leadership Development (GLD) Program as a fast track to build a pipeline of future leaders. Though each centre has unique needs and challenges the primary goal of each is the same, to provide free supplementary education for children from economically under privileged backgrounds.

The IHF Global Leadership Development Internship is a non-credit, certificate program designed to help you:

  • Acquire leadership and management capacities that will enable you to lead in the ever-changing global environment
  • Develop a cross-cultural mindset that will allow you to lead in an increasingly globalized world
  • Gain practical experience in an NGO environment
  • Build a global network with people from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds

The Global Leadership Development Internship takes a total of twelve (12) months to complete, candidates must commit to complete the full 12-month internship. All successful candidates must complete an initial four (4) month probation training period.

During this time you will:

  • You will have the exclusive opportunity to live and work across this diverse and beautiful country from the white sand beaches and spa’s or Bali to working amongst the international financial and technological giants based in one of South East Asia largest and most vibrant cities of Jakarta or between the jungles, lakes and volcanic mountains of Northern Sumatra and Medan
  • Complete rotational assignments in the core components of an international organization (including management skills, policy and procedures, finance, fundraising, media & PR, donor relations, legal, medical training and recruitment)
  • Be responsible for the management, design and implementation of community led projects linked to your academic and or professional skills and experience
  • Receive coaching from senior leaders and help to develop other volunteers
  • Develop strong networks with senior leaders and program peers
  • Become part of the next generation of global leaders

Eligibility


IHF is looking for individuals who can commit to the 12-month volunteer program with a strong interest in global leadership.


  • Essential Requirements

Volunteers accepted to this program will have: a relevant degree from an accredited university or comparable professional experience, confidence using the English language, A passion for international development with a particular emphasis on universal education , the means to live in country at one of our centers for at least 12 months, be open-minded, patient, caring and willing to learn have a commitment to our Core Values .


  • Preferable Requirements

Previous international travel and volunteer experience, career development goals consistent with IHFs Core Values, proficiency in computer skills specifically Google Suite applications


Program Cost

Accommodation and meals, prepared by a local member of staff, are included in this program. Interns will also be provided a small living stipend to cover local expenses.


Not included are your travel costs to and from our IHF Center, immunizations, travel insurance, and any spending money you wish to bring with you. Initial visa fees are the responsibility of the volunteer, however subsequent visa renewal fees will be covered by IHF.

Note: due to the nature of our work with children, should your application be accepted we do require a criminal background check which is less than 1 year old.

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) is an international non-religious, non-political, and nonprofit organisation that provides education and safe Children's Homes to impoverished children in Indonesia, Kenya, and Thailand through our five (5) IHF Centers.

We function entirely through the efforts of volunteers, sponsors, donors, and an Executive Leadership team from all over the world.
