Description

The Skokie Lagoons preserve is a network of forest, artificial lagoons, channels, and islands. Known to the Potawatomi people as "Chewab Skokie" or "big wet prairie", the area was well known as wildlife habitat. Our restoration work seeks to reestablish healthy woodland, savanna, and prairie habitats. Join volunteers from BackYard Nature Center in restoring habitat at the Lagoons by removing European buckthorn and other invasive species.
