Alleviate hunger in eastern Illinois by being a part of our fleet! EIF needs volunteer drivers to assist in receiving, handling, and distributing food and grocery product.
We are currently in need of:
- Bread Van Driver on Tuesdays from 8-10 am
- Foodmobile Drivers on Saturday mornings (CDL/Class B required)
All volunteer drivers must complete an orientation and training. We're currently in need of volunteer drivers to complete at least 1 ride per quarter
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the pick-up, delivery and distribution of Foodbank product. Ensure timely and Professional execution of pick-up and delivery
- Operate vehicles and equipment in a responsible and safe manner, ensuring proper transport of products
- Assist in loading and checking orders departing Foodbank
- Inspect and maintain Foodbank equipment, reporting any issues
- Work effectively with volunteers
- Observes applicable laws and safety practices while operating Foodbank delivery vehicles and/or warehouse equipment
- Deals tactfully and respectfully with agencies, community organizations, donors, and other volunteers to maintain effective and positive relations
Qualifications:
- Bread Van Driver: Possess and maintain a valid Class D driver's license with clean driving record and a minimum of one year driving experience
- Foodmobile Drivers: Possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with clean driving record and a minimum of one year driving experience
- Must receive approval from Foodbank's insurance carrier prior to beginning volunteer work
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and repetitively, bend, stand, push and pull carts
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment
- Ability to read and write legibly and perform basic math functions

Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF) exists to alleviate hunger in Eastern Illinois.
Description
Eastern Illinois Foodbank is the primary food source for food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other programs working to alleviate food insecurity. The Foodbank acquires millions of pounds of food and grocery product through purchase or donation and distributes it across our network of more than 160 feeding programs. Together, we’re working to create a hunger-free eastern Illinois. By partnering with EIF, emergency food programs are able to save millions of dollars each year in food purchase and handling costs. These savings allow them to focus their efforts and funds on more effectively working to alleviate hunger in our area. The Foodbank also operates programs targeted to children, seniors and veterans.
