DUTIES/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work will consist of taking photos of people, settings, and events of the VIP Program. Specific duties will
include taking high quality photos, maintaining camera equipment, editing photos, and working with the
Volunteer Coordinator to submit final products. These photos will aid in the visual storytelling and branding
of the program, and become NPS Park and Partnership property after submission. This person will be
working under minimal supervision, traveling to various locations, and will have an irregular schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Previous photography experience is required, and a keen eye for detail and well-developed artistic skills
are essential. Volunteer should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with culturally,
socially, and economically diversified people and knowledge of the island and park resources or the desire
to learn.
Volunteers must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Volunteers should expect and
be prepared for regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts, e.g., high or low temperatures,
or adverse weather conditions. Volunteer will be asked to provide, use, and maintain their own camera and
editing equipment as well as be able to work a flexible schedule and record their service hours. The
volunteer will be provided with free transportation to locations, a VIP uniform, and will work closely with
the Volunteer Coordinator to arrange transportation and scheduling.
Photo rights will be released to the National Park Service at the end of Service.
