Activity Assistant for Adult Day Health Care
Job Supervisor: Don Wendell
Location: Mills-Peninsula Senior Focus
Volunteer assists staff in providing the participants with therapeutic activities that provide opportunities for socialization, mental, and physical stimulation.
Program provides care for the Memory Impaired and Frail Older Adult population.
Volunteer times: Monday-Friday 1:30-4:00pm
Art Assistant: Volunteers must be able to stand and lean over at times during the entire class session.
" Assist art instructor
" Provide 1:1 assistance to participants
" Gathering supplies as needed during class
" Help with clean-up: washing brushes and water tins, putting away supplies.
Provide One-on-One Socialization and Interaction
" Interview participants for personal history
" Ask participants questions and document their answers.
" Sit with a participant for 1:1 discussion, for reminiscing and socialization.
" Sit with a participant that shows agitation or anxiety.
Assist staff with Activity Groups
" Help staff facilitate the following type of activities: Sing-along, Karaoke, Dominoes, Loteria BINGO, Art (watercolor, pencil, pen, etc), BINGO, Origami, Knitting, Crocheting, Range of Motion exercises, Puzzles, Baking, Games, Gardening, etc.
Orientation and Background checks provided my Mills-Peninsula Medical Center. This is requird for all volunteers.

RSVP is administered by the Corporation for National & Community Service, the federal agency that supports service and volunteering programs to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement. We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
