ORGANIZATION: AIDS SUPPORT GROUP OF CAPE COD INC

ASGCC is expanding its Board and is seeking candidates. This important regional Cape Cod nonprofit saves lives through prevention, education and life-sustaining services that address public health crises to build healthy communities across the Cape and Islands.

The board of the ASGCC is a governing board, meaning that its role is to provide governance and oversight of the professional executive and management team of ASGCC. Specific responsibilities within that scope include oversight of the organization’s financial health, its legal matters, and its policy making.

Importantly, directors are also expected to act as ambassadors for ASGCC within the community. In addition to meeting as a full board at three to four times annually, each director serves on a standing committee and may serve on an additional ad hoc committee as needed.

Board members serve three-year renewable terms; terms may be staggered, depending on the number of directors joining the board at the same time. Committees generally meet separately from the board. A detailed job description is available for interested candidates.

ASGCC is headquartered in Provincetown, MA. Board and committee meetings take place throughout the Cape Cod region and virtually.

Mission Statement

The AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod saves lives through prevention, education and life-sustaining services that address public health crises to build healthy communities across the Cape and Islands.

Description

For more than 35 years the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod (ASGCC) has remained committed to addressing the HIV/AIDS health crisis that spurred its creation. Today ASGCC’s life-sustaining services for HIV positive clients help them lead longer, healthier lives.

In recent years, opioid deaths on Cape Cod represent the fastest growing cause of death in Massachusetts. Throughout this epidemic, ASGCC has played a key role in fighting to save lives, training over 2500 community members in Narcan administration and saving 700 lives to date.

ASGCC’s dedicated staff delivers a wide range of direct services including medical case management, transportation, housing assistance, and food and nutrition services. ASGCC utilizes the practice of Harm Reduction, a public health strategy associated with certain risky behaviors. Prevention and testing efforts to fight the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C reach over 100,000 visitors and residents annually.

ASGCC’s dedication to providing non-judgmental compassionate care for over 35 years has helped many clients live longer, healthier lives.
