Global Green is the US affiliate of Green Cross International, an international non-profit organization that works to fight climate change and build security. We're working with our offices in Ghana and West Africa to evaluate opportunities to conducting pilot programs, research and convening stakeholders surrounding systemic challenges and policy opportunities in order to create an enabling ecosystem for solar energy to thrive in Ghana.

We're seeking help from a professional volunteer help us with market research to inform program design and start this project, and to deliver this review in a 2-3 page summary of a) challenges in the residential / small commercial solar market in Ghana b) work that is being done by other groups now including NGOs or stakeholder consortiums / associations.

Ghana aspires to provide economic opportunities for its growing population of 28.2 million. One of key constraints to this vision is its unreliable and costly supply of electric power. Global Green's objectives for 2018 include a) supporting cities with building resilience against the impacts of climate change and mitigating climate change and b) evaluating opportunities for further collaboration with our international affiliates (30 countries total). From two sets of meetings thus far, we've decided that focusing on collaboration with our offices in West Africa is a strategic and exciting priority and opportunity for impact. We have prepared with both on the ground work and research. Our office in Ghana has deployed 3,000 "clean" cookstoves using an impact investment loan instrument that is typically paid back in less than 6 months by participants. We're seeking to conduct both similar pilots and broader consortium building with the solar market similar to our success with cookstoves in Ghana, and we're seeking help from a professional volunteer to support our efforts with background research.
