Our neighborhood food pantry is usually open on Wed and Sat, but in the past we've been closed for holidays. We're trying something new this year and want to try being open for the holiday afternoon - come have some fun with us! We promise you'll be done in plenty of time to cook out and watch fireworks afterwards.

Volunteers fill several roles, from shopping escorts (walking through with people while they select the items they want to take home) to stockers (refilling shelves with items) and couriers (assisting carrying their food upstairs and out to their cars). All volunteers must be at least 10 years old, wear closed toed shoes and modest clothing that is okay to get dirty. Shorts are recommended in the summer!

More information about specific roles available can by found at the NourishKC website http://bit.ly/NourishVol or by emailing us at volunteer@nourishkc.org

Mission Statement

Offering opportunities for everyone to instill dignity and build a food secure Kansas City community.

Description

NourishKC, formerly known as Episcopal Community Services, specializes in a unique blend of food related programs.

The Kansas City Community Kitchen provides more than 1500 restaurant-style meals each week to anyone who comes to eat. Our Food Security Network supplies thousands more meals per year through a network of food pantries, BackSnack programs and other meal programs around the metro. Perhaps what makes us most unique is our Culinary Cornerstones training program which provides individuals an opportunity to learn life skills as well as culinary skills, giving them a chance to get a living wage job that will provide them with food access for the long term.
