Join us at Thaddeus Lechowicz Woods along the Chicago River to learn about native habitats and explore a forest in the city! Projects range with the needs of the season from removing invasives to mulching trails, so be prepared for all kinds of natural stewardship.
Protecting our natural areas is important - especially in an urban setting! Your work at Thaddeus Lechowicz Woods helps to maintain ecosystem services that nature provides to us for free! Maintaining the native species and keeping the park clean, provides habitat for pollinators that help plants repopulate, protects plants that filter our water resources in the watershed, and reduces the urban heat island effect!
We're joining forces with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County and The North Branch Restoration Project to help with local conservation efforts.
All ages welcome - this project is best for volunteers ages 5 to adult. We provide all of the needed supplies and a healthy snack. 5 participant maximum per family and all kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
* You must REGISTER your family to participate.
