The Polk County Fire Rescue Cadets program is a youth organization sponsored by Polk County Fire Rescue for youth who want a career in Fire Rescue Services. Cadets will attend monthly meetings and shadow public safety officials.

Cadet membership is open to those age 14 who have completed the eighth grade or who is 15 and not yet 19. Membership is limited to 30 active positions but a waiting list is held for when positions open. Trainings are on the 4th Saturday of the month from 0900 - 1200 and the second Monday night from 1800 - 2000.

When the six month probationary period is completed Fire Cadets are issued an identification card required to be in the cadet's possession at every Fire Cadet event including ride time. Uniform requirements are listed in the Polk County Fire Rescue Policies and Procedures booklet you will receive during orientation.

Polk County Fire Rescue provides Advanced Life Support transport to all residents and visitors of Polk County. It also provides fire suppression, rescue services and fire prevention services to all of unincorporated Polk County and the municipalities of Eagle Lake, Polk City, Mulberry, Lake Hamilton and Hillcrest Heights.
