F.R.I.E.N .D.S. Down Syndrome West Florida together with the National Down Syndrome Society is happy to announce that the 4th Annual FDSWF 3.21k Fun Run & Buddy Walk will take place at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, October 26th, from 8am-5pm.

More than 4,000 Down Syndrome families, friends, professionals, vendors, and exhibitors are anticipated to attend this event to raise awareness, acceptance and advocate for individuals with Down syndrome.

The Buddy Walk was created by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. The Buddy Walk promotes the acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks to over 250 last year, raising over 14.5 million dollars to benefit local programs and services. The Goal of the Buddy Walk is to:

1. Raise funds so that FRIENDS can continue its current programming.
2. To develop innovated and new programs.
3. To enhance the position of the Down syndrome community.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25th - LOAD TRUCK AT OUR STORAGE FACILITY - FISHHAWK STORAGE, UNIT 8131, BLD C - 16617 Fishhawk Blvd, Lithia, FL 33547

  • 12pm - Load truck
  • 3pm - unload truck at Raymond James and put up tents
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26 - RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM - 4201 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33607; PARKING LOT #1, #2, AND #3. 1ST SHIFT PLEASE ARRIVE: * 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM (FUN RUN Site Build & Set Up) 2ND SHIFT PLEASE ARRIVE: * 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Shift 2 - Event Volunteers) * 3:00 PM (Break down - clean-up) Load Truck * 4:00PM - RIVERVIEW STORAGE - UNLOAD TRUCK AT OUR STORAGE FACILITY Once you have registered on the Buddy Walk site, www.ds-stride.org/fdswfbuddy walk I will be contacting you. www.friendssupport.org VOLUNTEERS - Volunteers are needed for setup, parking, greeting the walkers and passing out flyers, water station, raffles, sales, buddy butlers, self-advocates, merchandise, and breakdown/cleanup. Please register on the Buddy Walk site to receive your free Volunteer t-shirt and Down Syndrome Awareness bracelet.

PARKING - Help guests as they enter the stadium to park. You will direct them to Tailgate, VIP, Handicap and guest parking sections. Eric needs 6 volunteers to help.

RAFFLES/MERCHANDISE SALES - We need four volunteers to help sell raffle tickets and Buddy Walk merchandise.

REGISTRATION - Signing in Buddy Walk attendees and collecting donations in the registration tent. Brenda needs 6 volunteers.

T-SHIRTS - We need volunteers to help wrap up and sort over 3000 t-shirts!

BUDDY WALK SIGNS - Place signs around Buccaneers field.

Description

A volunteer-based, non-profit 501C3, founded in 2007 by families impacted by Down Syndrome and other special needs. We are committed to offering support, resources, and acceptance to all individuals with special needs and their families. We provide year-round programs, public education, community activities, and volunteer opportunities for those who want to help our special needs community.
