PROGRAM SUMMARY:
LifeWorks is the youth development and mentoring program of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. We offer one on one, peer, and group mentoring opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth ages 12-24. Our goal is to help LGBTQ youth to realize their goals and dreams with a safe space, positive and affirming role models, and workshops & activities that are fun and educational.
JOB SUMMARY:
LifeWorks instructors run weekly programs. These weekly programs are geared toward LGBTQ youth and can be about various topics. These instructors are expected to prepare for their program and maintain communication with LifeWorks staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with co-facilitator, to prepare weekly program discussions and/or activities;
- Help maintain a safe and supportive space for the youth;
- Communicate any areas of youth concerns to a LifeWorks staff.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Responsible, respectful and dependable;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientation, and gender identities in a multicultural setting;
- Have some knowledge of LGBTQ youth;
- Have the desire to work with LGBTQ youth;
- Past youth work is a plus but not required.
TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Opportunity based on experience.

The Volunteer Resources department at the Los Angeles LGBT Center aims to provide meaningful opportunities to enhance Center services and activities, and promote the community's involvement in the organization.
