VIDA (Volunteers in Defense of Animals)

This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who enjoys going on trips to different places including the beach, dog parks, hiking trails, parks, and other places!

We're a little different than other shelters because we allow volunteers to take dogs out of the shelter area and give them a little excursion day / day out. This helps keep these pups happy and allows them to learn about the real world and get exposed to some new situations! All dogs that go out on short trips will be health checked, vaccinated, up to date on flea meds, spayed/neutered, and bathed. This helps keep both the dogs and your dogs safe, if you have them!

This is a new program that we have, so we're still figuring out a system for it. We can provide harnesses, collars, leashes, and a crate + bedding for you to take a dog out! You will need to bring something you can put water in for the dogs (like a collapsible bowl) and make sure not to feed the dogs before going out on a trip! This reduces carsickness for some of them. Trips must be planned at least 2 days before you decide to take a dog out - that way we can prepare a dog and be sure that everything is ready to go.

Anyone who has a drivers license will be able to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity! Help make a rescue dog happy today :)

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 50-60 cats and dogs per month - we rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and from the streets of Mexico. We also have spay and neuter operations and have saved thousands of animals already. www.vida4animals.org www.instagram.com/vidarescue www.facebook.com/vidarescue

Description

Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a non-profit organization working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.

We have found forever homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, with around 4-5 new adoptions taking place each week. Many of our dogs come from local high-kill shelters before they are euthanized and on the streets of both the US and Mexico. We also have spay/neuter operations in low-income neighborhoods in the US and in Mexico and have spayed/neutered thousands of pets.
