ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Alaska Region

Purpose: To provide administrative program support and leadership for the DAT program within an assigned DAT response
area(s). The DAT Coordinator supports the DAT program under the direction of the DAT Regional Program Lead.

Reports To: Disaster Program Manager Southcentral
Responsibilities: The DAT Coordinator will assist in leading chapter/territory DAT activities by providing administrative support
to the DAT program. Also, works with other chapter/territory leadership to define and articulate the overall
strategy for the Disaster Action Team program.

Leadership
1. Oversees and monitors completion of training by DAT Trainees.
2. Maintains a climate of learning and engagement for all DAT members.
3. Ensures mentoring and coaching occurs across all levels of the DAT program.
4. Works with DPM/DPS and DAT Manager to identify and resolve DAT issues and ensures program
standards are being met.
5. Works with DAT Leadership to identify and recommend new candidates for leadership positions.
6. Provides career path coaching for volunteers with leadership potential.

Functional

  1. Ensures DAT members/trainees receive timely orientations and onboarding into the DAT program.
  2. Oversees the promotion of DAT members from one level to the next.
  3. Assist DAT Manager/DAT Supervisors with coordination and scheduling of regular DAT meetings and trainings.
  4. Ensures DAT members are scheduled in RC View (as becomes available) and communicates DAT readiness to the DPM/DPS.
  5. Where appropriate, maintains access to and ability to use the Client Assistance System (CAS) to run
  6. necessary reports.
  7. Ensures procedures for issuing and maintaining CACs is understood and observed by DAT members
  8. Provides support to and ensures DAT members have resources needed to perform their job
  9. Ensures that regional and national guidance is widely communicated and observed.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate a collaborative leadership style.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to mission of the American Red Cross
  • Ability to lead and supervise DAT members.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in complex and stressful situations.
  • Proficient with Red Cross systems and online interfaces (initial training may be required).

  • Volunteer Connection Basics: Profiles, Hours Manager and Groupshare (WBT)
  • RC View DAT Dispatch DAT Coordinator training (This becomes a requirement when the region enters the Readiness Initiative DAT Dispatch Infrastructure Lane.)
