Job brief
We are looking for a successful and enthusiastic event planner to join our team and produce an event. The event coordinator responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service and organizing a memorable event that meets quality expectations.
Responsibilities -- Plan design and produce event
- Gather information and negotiate contracts prior to closing any deals
- Provide feedback and periodic reports to ED & DO
- Propose ideas to improve events
- Coordinate with facilities to organize and manage event details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material etc
- Specify staff requirements and coordinate their activities
- Cooperate with marketing and PR to promote and publicize event
- Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day
- Conduct pre- and post-event evaluations and report on outcomes
Requirements
- Experience as an event planner or organizer
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- MS Office proficiency

Description
Our Primary event is The San Diego Senior Olympics Games. This year we expect over 1,300 athletes to compete during our May and September events. An additional 1,500 will participate as volunteers, spectators, and coaches. We are the only organization in San Diego who offers older adults the opportunity to compete in multiple Olympic style-sporting events
We are changing lives, building better futures, and giving people an opportunity to continue to challenge themselves. We hope that you will support our efforts to continue to better the lives of our California Seniors.
