This volunteer is needed to assist the Executive Director in the daily operations of the Center. Duties include answering telephones, receiving deliveries, working with patrons of the Center both in person and by telephone, filing, organizing, scheduling, etc. as requested by the Executive Director. That said, Wednesdays require far more interaction with people who are blind and visually impaired than any other day of the week, because the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays (if there is one) of the month are the dates for our lunch open house. So, you might help our patrons from their transportation to a seat, help serve meals, cut up the meal for someone, and help them out to their transportation after the event. You might even be asked to help someone who is blind play a bingo card. Most importantly, Wednesdays are the best days to get to know and help our patrons who are, of course, blind or visually impaired.

Our needs for your time are flexible. If you can, for example, attend only the 1st Wednesday or cannot arrive until noon, we are flexible. Our goal is to ensure we have two people to help the Executive Director every busy Wednesday.
