Description -
The Volunteer Services Intern is part of the team that manages Milwaukee Habitat's many volunteers both on construction, at the ReStores, and in the office. Working in the Volunteer Services department offers a chance to get to know volunteers and experience non profit volunteer management. Duties will typically include helping register volunteers on site, helping with key build day lunches, entering volunteer information in a database, attending volunteer fair events when available, and special projects that fit the intern's interests and organization's needs. This position is crucial for maintaining and organizing our volunteer base and records.

Responsibilities:
* Enter volunteer data, personal information, feedback and event paperwork in volunteer database
* Provide interested parties with information regarding volunteer opportunities including attending community recruitment events
* Assist with volunteer registration and lunches during key build days
* Special projects according to intern’s interests and Habitat’s needs which may include things such as volunteer appreciation, feedback, recruitment, education on the need for affordable housing or other strategic initiatives.

Qualifications or special skills needed:
* Commitment to the ministry of Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity
* Computer skills: Microsoft Word, excel, and a willingness or interest in learning database management
* Excellent communication skills both in person and in writing
* Comfortable working with and for individuals from diverse backgrounds
* Flexibility and ability to work independently
* Must have transportation to Habitat’s main office (3726 N. Booth Street)
* Be at least 18 years old **We will consider high school students under 18 years of age at our discretion**
* Ability to pass a background check

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing by working alongside future homeowners and volunteers to build and rehab simple, decent and affordable houses. Milwaukee Habitat also two donation-driven retail stores called the ReStores.

All proceeds from ReStore sales benefit Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity's mission of building simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with families in need. The ReStore is stocked exclusively with donated items such as new and used furniture, appliances, kitchen cabinets, building materials and other home goods.
