Clean Ocean Access

(1)Clean Ocean Access is one of the event charitable partners for the 2021 Amica Newport Marathon. As one of the charitable partners we will be organizing volunteers for dune grass protection and litter pick-up after segments of the running course are completed. Dune grass is a vital component of coastal ecosystems, protecting inland areas from wind and waves from high energy storms, so our volunteers are able to protect the land while educating runners and bystanders about these delicate and important plants. As for the racecourse, we want to make sure that we return the roadways free of litter to mitigate the potential formation of marine debris from stormwater runoff.

Volunteer Shifts:

Dune Protection: 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Litter Pick-up: A 1-mile stretch of the racecourse, start times are variable

(2) As one of the event charitable partners, we are able to form a running team, so if you are interested in RUNNING for Clean Ocean Access for the half or full marathon, please let us know!
