Position Summary
Our lively sales team seeks an energetic individual to assist in all areas of the Membership Department. Receive hands-on experience and valuable training in customer service techniques, membership support systems and trend tracking for a non-profit organization that serves over 400,000 visitors each year. The intern will be responsible for aiding the membership team in providing a high level of service to the members and customers of the museum. Responsibilities may include responding to customer questions via e-mail and social media, helping with onsite member events and offsite promotional opportunities, and tracking overall experience quality through survey work, including copy creation and data collection.
Major Job Accountabilities
The exact duties and projects will be determined by mutual agreement of the intern and museum staff. All duties will be carried out with the direction and supervision of the Membership and Sales department.
- Track member and customer experience trends through the sending of surveys. This includes working with the membership team to create copy to assess satisfaction of museum visits, birthday parties and group visits.
- Respond to customer inquiries via e-mail and social media outlets, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
- Offer support at member and group events, as well as promotional event opportunities
- Aid the membership team in data entry via Galaxy and Raiser’s Edge - help problem-solve when there are discrepancies
- Assist with monthly membership renewals and other cultivation mailings
- Assist with group visit coordination
- Track inventory for birthday party supplies
- Various other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Require
- Formal education in related field such as marketing, communication, business
- Ability to organize time and work independently, follow directions and complete tasks in an effective manner.
- Skill in coordinating tasks and projects.
- Computer skills, including word processing.
- Ability to work well with people.
- Excellent analytical thinking skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel.
- Previous knowledge of Survey Monkey and Raiser’s Edge helpful.
- Self-starter, able to take initiative.
Training Provided
- Intern orientation
- Museum background and philosophy
- Survey Monkey, Raiser’s Edge, Robly and Microsoft Office Suite as needed
- Reporting/ final document process and creation
- Access to supplemental staff trainings: The Ways of Play, Wakanheza
