* IN ORDER TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THIS EVENT YOU MUST EMAIL MARY.OWENS@RALEIGHNC.GOV AS SHE WILL SEND YOU THE LINK TO SIGN UP*
Join us to help mulch Worthdale Park! We will be out there two days, but you can sign up for one or both of the shifts.
Impact: Volunteers will be helping to spruce up the landscaped areas of the park and community center. Mulch also helps control weeds and retain water for plants to survive the summer.
Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will use wheel barrows, pitch forks, buckets, and hard rakes to help spread mulch around Worthdale Park.
Special Information: We will supply the tools, gloves, snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and first-aid kit.Volunteers must wear loose comfortable clothing that can get dirty and sturdy closed-toe shoes such as hiking/work boots or sneakers.
We will send out specific parking/ meeting location to registered volunteers closer to the event. It is important to follow these directions as GPS does not take you to the correct location.
Date / Time of Shifts:
6/26 - 9:30 am - 12pm - 5 spots
6/28 - 9:30 am - 12pm - 5 spots
Work Environment: This project will be outside in the heat and on very uneven terrain. In fact a section of it is a steep hill that will require using buckets to move mulch. There will be a restroom on site. In the case that the heat index reaches 105, this project will be stopped.
Volunteer Requirements: You must be at least 15 years old to volunteer. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer release form (for volunteers under the age of 18 a parent/guardian will need to sign the volunteer form).
Registration Information: Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served.
Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
