Background Information: One of the extensions of services provided by the Ronald McDonald House is the Ronald McDonald Family Room(r). Our Ronald McDonald Family Room, located in Golisano Children’s Hospital, is a quiet place away from the medical space for families to recharge, grab a bite to eat or rest during the long days of testing or treatment. Family Room Volunteers operate and maintain a lounge area to deliver the RMHCR mission of improving the health and well-being of children. The Family Room offers refreshments, quiet respite and laundry facilities for families of children receiving care. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester is seeking volunteers to commit to 4-hour shifts available during the specified hours: Monday-Friday:
- 4:00p-8:00p
- 8:00a-12:00p
- 12:00p-4:00p
- 4:00p-8:00p
Essential Tasks
- Welcoming, interacting and registering visitors to the Family Room.
- Serving snacks and beverages following food safety guidelines.
- Keeping the lounge tidy and clean by following opening and closing procedures.
- Respecting patient confidentially at all times.
- Offer information for other family and patient support resources
Preferred Skills
- Work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Basic Computer Skills
Requirements
- Training and orientation to RMHCR Standards.
- Training and orientation through Friends of Strong.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to handle physical demands, such as bending and lifting. Possibility of long periods of standing.
- Ability to lift up to 10-15 pounds.
- Adheres to RMHC mission, values and policies.

Description
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester provides a "home-away-from-home" for families of children receiving health care in the Rochester community. We accomplish this by:
* Caring for families and keeping them close to their children at our 24-bedroom Westmoreland House
* Caring for parents of the most critically ill and injured children at our House Within the Hospital located near the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Golisano Children’s Hospital.
* Providing respite for families in the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Golisano Children's Hospital
* Providing respite for families in the Family Lounge at Rochester General Hospital
*Supporting families at the Pediatric Outpatient Ambulatory Clinic at Golisano Children's Hospital
