We are looking for volunteers to help every other Monday from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m and/or every other Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Purpose

• Create a clean, safe and caring home environment for families of children who are critically ill or injured.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts
• Open room if first shift
• Wear name badge, appropriate clothing and uniform as assigned.
• Greet guests as they enter the Family Room and make sure they sign-in and out
• Determine if guest has had a tour of the room and provide one if not
• Enforce guidelines and policies
• Answer telephone
• Read and record daily happenings in communication computer
• Make coffee and replenish beverages and foods as needed
• Stock supplies as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of room
• Oversee laundry room & bathrooms with showers
• Brief next volunteer or staff member
• Close room if on final shift

• Clean, neat and organized
• Discreet and able to respect confidential information
• Respectful of individuals rights, dignity, culture and privacy

When and Where

• Volunteers report to Ronald McDonald Family Room in the Golisano Children’s Hospital
• Volunteers are required to make a one-year commitment to the House.

Training

• Complete RMHC training (which including Strong Memorial Hospital training)
• Annually, comply with annual health assessment requirements and mandatory Strong Hospital training as well as review the In-Service Training Manual.
• Sign a confidentiality agreement and acknowledgement of receipt of job description.

Supervision

• All volunteers are managed by the Manager of Hospital Programs and supported by the Director of Volunteers at RMH
