Nursing Unit - Patient Ambassador

Duties:

Did you know that 65% of the time a call light goes on in a hospital room it is for non-healthcare related needs such as a warm blanket, raising or lowering the bed, finding their glasses, etc.? Our Patient Ambassador volunteers are tasked with meeting these needs. Patient Ambassadors are assigned to several nursing units in our hospital and provide support to patients, families and friends by providing these "extras". You will be rounding on patients, providing a friendly listening ear and finding out what needs the patient and their loved ones might have. In addition, Patient Ambassadors stock rooms with equipment such as gloves, gowns, and masks, inventory supplies, pass waters, help with discharges, take away meal trays and generally do what is needed to make our nursing units run smoothly. If you are looking for a way to grow your communication skills, get direct patient contact, and work in a highly team oriented environment then this is exactly the job for you. Every night you will go home knowing that you have made a direct impact on the patients and visitors they have come in contact with.
