ORGANIZATION: A Wider Circle

  • 6 people are interested

At A Wider Circle, we know that one cannot rise out of poverty without a job but that seeking employment often involves an array of other barriers and challenges. That's why our newest initiative was developed. P2I is a multi-year connection between A Wider Circle and those we serve and provides programming in employment, health and wellness, financial management, networks and social support and, when needed, referrals to specialized care. We are currently recruiting for participants and volunteers. Individual volunteers and potential partner organizations are invited to attend an information session to learn more about the realms of involvement, the tasks for volunteers, options for time commitments and more. Success of P2I will rely heavily on community members offering their time and technical skills to those seeking to change their lives. While select technical skills are required for certain volunteer tasks within P2I, many roles are available to those with a few hours to spare and a desire to be involved. Please join us to learn more. We invite you to join us for an upcoming P2I orientation. All orientations are held at our Silver Spring offices, 9159 Brookville Road. Please email p2i @awidercircle.org to RSVP!

Mission Statement

This mission of A Wider Circle is simple: to end poverty for one individual and one family after another

Description

A Wider Circle is a 501(c)(3) grassroots nonprofit organization that provides holistic support to families in need. We furnish the homes of children and adults who are transitioning out of domestic violence or homeless shelters, or who are simply living without what most of us take for granted - beds, dressers, sheets, towels, and other basic need items. We offer educational programs on topics ranging from job skills and money management to stress management and other life skills. We also provide wrap-around support to those seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce, including professional attire, education, and one-on-one support. We work with the most vulnerable among us, and we do whatever we can do to help them move toward stability and independence.
