World Refugee Day Eve Interfaith Vigil

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Lutheran Family Services of Rocky Mountains: Denver Metro

On the eve of World Refugee Day, Belong Church and Lutheran Family Services are partnering for an evening event to honor the difficult and triumphant path refugees walk to resettle in our Colorado communities.

We will hear from Farduus Ahmed, a Somali woman who came to the US eight years ago, and her journey and process through which she was able to resettle.

After we hear from Farduus, faith leaders across diverse traditions will lead us in a contemplative dive that will h elp us tune into the calling on our own hearts, to find where we are drawn to help and best serve our community in need. An interactive welcome center will connect you with resources to call your intention into action and opportunities to create messages of hope and healing.

We know that refugees make America a better place, but we can’t celebrate people who never make it to our shores.

Join us for this evening to learn and do the work needed to bring refugees to the US and welcome them once they’ve arrived.

Tickets can be reserved for free or a donation of your choosing at belongchurch.org/journey. We will come together on June 19th from 7-8:30 pm at Belong Church, 1615 N. Ogden Street, Denver, CO 80218. We hope you can join us!

Mission Statement

Rooted in the values of kindness, dignity, and social justice, LFSRM strengthens communities by providing support, guidance, and resource coordination to individuals and families throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

Description

We believe that all people, from the newborn infant to the most elderly person, deserve to be valued in our community. Therefore, Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains (LFSRM) is committed to offering love and support to the people it serves, regardless of race, religion, gender, or age, to help equip them to live full and whole lives.

Today more than 20 million refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced persons are living with a very uncertain future.
