  • 4 people are interested

NEW START Adult Learning Program is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to assist our Beginning to Low Intermediate English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) Teacher on Mondays at the Bear Library, one of our satellite locations. Some teaching or tutoring experience is preferred, but not necessary. On-line tutor training sessions are available. Being comfortable using a computer would be helpful.

Time Commitment: Classes meet every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This opportunity is for Monday only as there is another Assistant Teacher already doing Wednesdays. We are planning to start classes again on September 14, 2020 and will end on May 19, 2021 with various days off in between. There will be a 3 week long Winter Break starting the week of Christmas.

Job Duties:

  • Follow the lesson plan as per the ESL Teacher.
  • Help students meet goals set in place by the program.
  • Help with registration and testing during first week of classes.
  • Possibly fill in for the ESL Teacher if they need to take a day off.
