FriendshipWorks is looking for volunteers in the East Boston to spend an hour a week chatting, grabbing a coffee, going for walks, playing games, laughing and so much more! With one hour a week you can make the difference in the life of an isolated senior. We are flexible but ask for a commitment from our friendly visiting volunteers as elders will be relying on their new friend. No experience required. Volunteers can visit on weekends and weeknights. Can't commit to a weekly visit? Ask us about our friendly helping program where you would choose the tasks to help out with that fit your schedule.

FriendshipWorks, formerly MATCH-UP Interfaith Volunteers, recruits and trains caring individuals to assist elders living in the Boston area. Our mission is to decrease the isolation that too often comes with age and disability, to promote well being, and to enhance the quality of life of elders. We have seen firsthand the difference ongoing companionship and support can make both for our care recipients and our volunteers.
Description
FriendshipWorks offers a variety of support services to elders in the Boston area. We make friendship matches between volunteers and elders. Volunteers often provide companionship, read aloud, take walks, or assist someone with errands. In addition to ongoing companionship, FriendshipWorks provides one-time assistance such as volunteer escorts to and from medical appointments and respite for family caregivers.
