Homestead Hospice is looking for volunteers to participate in the Veteran's History Project.
The project collects first-hand accounts of U.S. Veterans from the following wars:
- World War II 1939-1945
- Cold War
- Korean War 1950-1953
- Vietname War 1961-1975
- Grenada 1983
- Panama 1989
- Persian Gulf 1992-1993
The Projects collect correspondences (letters, postcards, personal diaries), personal narratives, and visual materials (photographs, drawings, scrapbooks).
Projects may take weeks or months to complete based on how much time is spent with the patient to collect the needed materials. Generally a one on one visit with a patient is 1-2 hours long, during the week or weekend, avoiding all eating times.
Minors must be accompanied by an guardian.
There is an on-boarding process to begin volunteering.
