Sexual assault is a community issue that demands a community response. We believe that through a combination of services for survivors of sexual assault, prevention programming and community awareness, we can eliminate sexual violence together.
Join the fight: Our Hotline Advocates provide a comforting voice for callers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether an assault happened moments or years ago, survivors and loved ones alike can find support and resources on our hotline. Hotline Advocates are trained in crisis management and provide support and information to anyone impacted by sexual violence. Because calls are confidentially patched through to any phone number the advocate likes, working on the hotline is an incredibly flexible way to make a very direct impact. While previous experience with advocacy work is not required, we require Hotline Advocates to attend our 40-hour advocacy training and to commit to picking up 4 shifts (6 hours each) per month for at least a year.
These volunteers also have an opportunity to become Volunteer Hospital Advocates, who meet with recent survivors in the emergency room, after serving on the hotline for 3 months.
The Blue Bench (formerly RAAP) is metro Denver’s only comprehensive sexual assault prevention and support center. Since our founding in 1983, we have worked tirelessly to eliminate sexual assault and diminish the impact it has on individuals, their loved ones and our community.
Through issue advocacy, scientifically-supported prevention programs and a robust offering of low to no-cost client services including a 24-hour hotline, individual and group therapy and case management, The Blue Bench has helped hundreds of thousands of Denver-area people of all gender identities find the courage to move from victim to survivor.
