Community Bridges empowers girls from diverse backgrounds to become exceptional students, positive leaders, and healthy young women. We have been serving girls and families in Montgomery County since 1997, and our Girls Program supports the growth of young women over a nine-year continuum, from 4th to 12th grade.

Girls in our CB Girls program develop leadership skills and personal responsibility through a variety of experiential and in-classroom learning opportunities. Our integrated programming encourages our girls to lead holistically healthy lives: emotionally, socially, and physically.Weekly lessons focus on topics such as healthy relationships, cultural awareness, and leadership and goal setting.

Community Bridges is currently seeking a dancer who loves what they do and wants to work in a space with either Elementary, Middle or High School girls from April 1- May 31. We have our Annual Showcase, Our True Colors (OTC) that takes place in Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center. Your role as a dance instructor is to lead a dance class that includes the input of our girls, not to teach them choreography. We are looking for dancers that has a background in all types of dance but it would be helpful if you have a background in Contemporary, Modern, and or hip-hop.

Mission Statement

Community Bridges empowers girls from diverse backgrounds to become exceptional students, positive leaders, and healthy young women. We do so by addressing the developmental needs of immigrant and minority girls and their families living at or below the federal poverty level in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Description

Our integrated 4th through 12th grade after- and out-of-school Girls Program supports the growth of our young women over a 9 year continuum by helping them understand their potential and life choices, learn creative strategies to become leaders, and break their family’s cycle of poverty using education as a vehicle.

We further extend our impact on Community Bridges girls by supporting them with one-on-one mentoring, college and career programming, service opportunities, educational learning trips, and by offering workshops that provide resources and support for their families. Combined, our programs encourage the development of the entire girl so that she will have the greatest chance to reach her fullest potential.
