Due to extreme poverty, gender bias towards males and ill health, thousands of children in India are given refuge in community-care centres and shelters run by various non-governmental organizations. The children who find themselves at one of these facilities have often come from tremendously difficult and traumatic circumstances, leaving them distressed and detached from the joys of childhood we so often take for granted. The aim of this wonderful program then is to assist in helping with, and caring for these neglected children, and the assistance of international volunteers is desperately needed. You as volunteer will participate in the daily routines and can make a great contribution just by being caring and giving the children some much-needed attention. By being there to offer care and compassion, volunteers are making a huge impact on the lives of these wonderful children.

Volunteers will contribute in a number of ways on this program and can expect to undertake the following tasks:

  • Help to care for the children
  • Supply general care and compassion to the children
  • Spend time on exercise activities with the children
  • Organize and facilitate games and play time for the children
  • Help in other activities with help of center staff
  • Provide essential childcare to vulnerable children in Bangalore or Delhi
  • Improve the future prospects of the children in Bangalore or Delhi
  • Give impoverished and vulnerable children quality care, compassion and a sense of hope
  • Enable inter-cultural exchange which benefits both locals and international volunteers alike.
