The Advocacy Academy exists to give young people that voice.
The Advocacy Academy is a youth movement working to unleash the power of young people to create a more fair, just, and equal society. They are on a mission to create a new generation of social-change leaders, supporting them to tackle the biggest challenges of the 21st century - from gender equality to mental health. They envision a society in which young people are active citizens, meaningfully participating in their communities, and effectively challenging systemic injustice and inequality to create a better tomorrow.

Job Brief
Working as part of the Development Team, the position is key to contributing to the development of the online platform - you will be adding basic functionality to the current website, like pages, fundraising links, etc. This role will also provide an opportunity to learn the technologies and best practices that the team are using.
Responsibilities
- Adding basic functionality to the current website, e.g., pages, fundraising links, videos.
- Work closely with the other developers, designers and testers involved in the project.
- Respect procedures regarding code versioning, issue management and coding standards.
Requirements
- Very good CSS, HTML and Javascript skills.
- Experience with AngularJS or at least one other Javascript MVC framework.
- Experience developing SPA applications using REST APIs.
- Knowledge of at least one CSS pre-processor.
- Knowledge of GIT or Mercurial for version control.
- Knowledge of Node.js is an advantage.
- Knowledge of CoffeeScript is an advantage.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Time commitment
The time commitment can be as little as 4 hours per week, depending on your availability.
Location
The role will be performed remotely, so applications are welcomed from across the world.
As the role is as a volunteer, it is unpaid, but it offers a great opportunity to gain experience, while helping to change the world!
