Office volunteers serve as the "face" of Chatham Habitat, greeting guests and answering phone calls. This is a great opportunity for people interested in learning about how nonprofit organizations work!
We are looking for volunteers that can commit to a weekly 4-hour shift during our weekday office hours. We try to utilize volunteers' unique skills, so these responsibilities can be changed and added to based on your needs and abilities. Please contact us (office@chathamhabitat.org, 919-542-0794) if you are interested or have any questions.
As a small team, we love having volunteers help out in our office - it helps us fulfill our mission to create self-help opportunities for families to own affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their communities.

Mission Statement
Chatham Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends.
Description
Chatham Habitat for Humanity (CHFH), an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, has been an active part of Chatham County since 1989 when volunteers in the community noticed the growing need for decent, safe, affordable housing. We have completed over 100 houses.
Families are approved for a Habitat home based on their need, their ability to commit to a mortgage, and their willingness to contribute at least 350 hours of labor or sweat equity.
Over 300 Chatham County residents have benefited from moving into a safe, decent Habitat home. Many children in these homes previously lived in housing with rotting floors and ceilings, inadequate or nonexistent indoor plumbing, no heat and faulty wiring. Some families have previously lived in neighborhoods of violence and drug activity. The solution to poverty housing is through the empowerment of individuals, families and communities.
