The Office of Equity's focus is on ensuring that policies and practices - on matters ranging from hiring and promotions to procurement procedures - throughout Louisville Metro Government align with Mayor Fischer’s goal of improving equity in the city. Louisville Metro Housing Authority is working with the Office of Equity on the digital equity movement, ConnectHomeUSA, to bridge the digital divide for HUD-assisted housing residents living in Louisville. ConnectHomeUSA creates a platform for community leaders, local governments, nonprofit organizations, and private industry to join together and produce locally-tailored solutions for narrowing the digital divide. Together, we will create a more equitable environment for Louisville citizens. Job Purpose: The AmeriCorps VISTA will build the capacity the Office of Equity by assisting in the research and development of policy that advances equitable workforce practices at Louisville Metro Government. The VISTA member will also research digital equity policy, assist with connecting eligible Louisville residents with low-cost Internet service and assist with developing, coordinating and conducting digital literacy trainings. Working Conditions: Flexible working conditions that may require time spent without direct supervision. Work will take place at various sites. Some meetings are during evenings and weekends. No Physical Requirements.

Member Duties : Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and implement programs and projects within the Racial Equity Plan to achieve objectives and goals assigned by Chief Equity Officer Research, recommend, develop, and revise polices, plans and procedures on Title VI, affirmative action, contracting/procurement, and workforce equity. Assist with creating, organizing and conducting digital skills trainings. Serve as low-cost Internet liaison and advocate to spread awareness about the equitable access to home Internet service in Louisville. Research and draft digital equity policy for Louisville Metro Direct reports: Chief Equity Officer ConnectHomeUSA Program Coordinator

ConnectHomeUSA (formerly ConnectHome Nation) is a movement to bridge the digital divide for HUD-assisted housing residents in the United States under the leadership of national nonprofit EveryoneOn. By helping residents in participating communities to get connected at home and providing access to digital literacy and educational content, we aim to make public housing a platform for change. ConnectHomeUSA creates a platform for community leaders, local governments, nonprofit organizations, and private industry to join together and produce locally-tailored solutions for narrowing the digital divide. Through these stakeholders’ specific commitments to provide free or low-cost broadband access, devices, and digital literacy training, ConnectHomeUSA extends affordable access to low-income families, ensuring that high-speed internet follows our children from their classrooms back to their homes.
