Junior Achievement of Northern California: At Junior Achievement, we give young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.

Our corporate and community volunteers deliver relevant, hands-on experiences that give students from kindergarten through high school knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship.

JA programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world - enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school.

Mendocino County - Workforce Readiness Project:

We need community leaders to teach JA Our Community throughout 2nd grade classrooms during the 2018-19 school year.

JA Our Community introduces students to the intersection of work readiness and early elementary grades social studies learning objectives, including how citizens benefit from and contribute to a community's success. Supported by the teacher, volunteers from the community teach the program in a classroom during the school day. The program may be implemented in one day or weekly.

With support from Savings Bank of Mendocino County, State Farm, Reality World - Selzer Realty, Community 1st Credit Union, Wells Fargo, Ukiah USD, and the Community Foundation of Mendocino, we currently implement the JA programs in six Ukiah USD elementary schools. With your help, we can expand this opportunity to all 2 nd grade classrooms throughout the county.

Acknowledgement: John Mayfield and the Community Foundation of Mendocino created an advisory committee to support Junior Achievement’s work in Mendocino County. We appreciate your willingness to participate and to support our effort to facilitate a coalition of community partners.JA Our Community Program Overview
