The LSS-SW Women’s Empowerment Program is seeking a volunteers to instruct group classes on a weekly basis (Basic & Advanced) in skill-building activities related to sewing, sequential steps to basic clothing creation and minor alterations. Volunteer should add fresh ideas to existing curriculum, listen to participants and encourage cultural integration into materials and end products. English Language Instruction is an important part of this direct service programming as many of our refugee women speak only very basic English.

Volunteer Tasks will include:

• Teach basic to intermediate sewing techniques using a sewing machine
• Assist individuals during open sewing times to be creative and continue building skills
• Teach curriculum and assess women’s progress for existing Basic and Advanced Curriculum.
• Work 1-on-1 with women who have completed this programming in open sew.
• Bring your creativity to the project.
