June 8 we're having a special restoration day to remove invasive plants in Civic Park. We'll be concentrating on arundo, poison hemlock, and ivy.
Help restore the creek in Civic Park East with native plants and wildflowers. We will pull weeds, do sheet mulching to suppress weeds in new sections as we expand our project, water our plants in the summer, and plant more plants in the winter.
Wear long pants, closed-toe sturdy shoes or hiking boots, and a hat. Bring lightweight gardening gloves and drinking water/snack if you want it. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and gaiters in summer months at your discretion.
Minimum age 12.
All participants must sign a waiver. Adults can sign on site. Minors (under 18) must have a parent's or guardian's signature. Write to contact@friendsofthecreeks.org to get one.
DIRECTIONS to the site: From Civic Drive, turn on to Arroyo Way (use 1250 Arroyo Way for GPS) and drive to the end. We have permission to park in the row of parking spaces on the left.
