Job Brief

You’ll work as part of a team to put together a weekly newsletter that will summarise current news for Changemakers and help engage the community. Every other week, you and another member of the team will be responsible for researching and writing newsworthy stories, editing each other’s work, and putting out a clear and engaging newsletter.

As well as researching and writing - we want you to go that step further and be able to suggest ways that Changemakers can help with the respective stories.

​Key duties and responsibilities

• Research stories, events, topics, and trends relevant to the causes We Make Change care about
• Write up pieces in a timely manner
• Edit team members’ work
• Use MailChimp to upload the stories
• Suggest ideas for improvements to the newsletter
• Slack, Google Docs, MailChimp, and Airtable will be used to execute this project

Requirements

• The research part of the role will be second nature - you enjoy staying up to date with important stories and have knowledge of the causes WMC care about
• Proactive! Because the stories are put out weekly, it is important that you are engaged and write up the relevant stories as they develop
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• You feel comfortable with using online software (it’s super simple, promise!)
• Creative and open-minded - we want you to bring ideas to the project and make it your own
• Team player - we know you will have other engagements, and so will the rest of your team. We want you to help each other out and motivate one another

Time commitment

The time commitment can be as little as 4 hours per week, depending on your availability.

Location

The role will be performed remotely, so applications are welcomed from across the world.

As the role is as a volunteer, it is unpaid, but it offers a great opportunity to gain experience, while helping to change the world!
