We have minimal room in our facility, so we store extra supplies and donations in a large shed. If you want to make a meaningful contribution towards helping the homeless in your community and if you enjoy the challenge of creating an orderly environment and determining the usefulness of supplies, we’re looking for a volunteer to provide crucial assistance. If you can offer at least one hour per week for at least 3 months, we’d love to have you on our team. We believe that respect is due to our donors to best utilize their gifts and that we offer an option for the community that serves need and reduces waste. Furthermore, a streamlined system based in our shed helps our staff and clients maintain a stable environment that emphasizes positive life skills and supplies need quickly and efficiently.

Mission Statement
The Taos Coalition to End Homelessness, TCEH, offers a safe haven for the homeless men of Taos County in cooperation with trained staff and support from foundations, state, county and our community. Along with helping men, the shelter provides important community services. We are a placement resource for the police department, churches, mental health agencies, and families who encounter men who have nowhere else to go. Our shelter is a humane and effective solution. It saves public funding by avoiding the expense of incarceration and/or emergency room care.
Description
Taos Men’s Shelter has been serving the homeless of Taos County for the last 12 years, providing emergency shelter and basic resources as well as case management. In 2017 approximately 40% of our guests who engaged in case management were about to re-stabilize and either find housing or return to a previous home. Our primary volunteer program is our Dinner Donors Program. With the help of over 50 volunteers, we offer a free, hot dinner that is open to the public, We hope to expand upon our volunteer programs by recruiting volunteers to help us manage our Donations and Supplies Shed, as well as bringing in volunteers to spend time engaging with and encouraging our guests in the evenings.
