Program Requirements

Training Requirements

· Training will consist of working with direct supervisor for a set minimum of hours to explain and understand basic needs of parsing data.

Orientation Information

· Orientation will be scheduled with primary supervisor to review volunteer handbook, overview of job description, meet legal team, and tour facility workspace.

Job Description Role and Responsibilities

· Lutheran Family Services Legal Department is recruiting a volunteer intern with basic computer administrative knowledge and strong attention to detail to support the transition of hard printed legal contracts into electronic versions.

· Will assist legal department by parsing and updating paper contracts into electronic sources, via smart sheets for executed documents for provisions.

· Other administrative responsibilities as available or needed to include:

o Shadowing other workers to get experience/exposure to other areas of LFS and how they intertwine with legal (immigration/immigration law, legal/litigation, development, grants, program, outside partners (legal or insurance)

o Upcoming legal investigation projects that will use a legal student to research into current statutes/policies and prepare memos (immigration law, employment law, etc.)

o Policy & Procedure review

o Attending a conferences as appropriate

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Basic Microsoft Office specifically excel or google sheet knowledge.

· Application, 3 professional references, background check, sign NDA.

Preferred Skills

· Experience reading and understanding legal contracts.

· First or second year undergrad student seeking law degree.

Additional Notes

· Time Commitment: 5-10 hours a week for a commitment of 6 months.

· Great opportunity for undergraduate students seeking administrative work experience within a professional office setting.
