ORGANIZATION: Lenox Hill Neighborhood House

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York's premier human services providers is a 124-year-old settlement house that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services which significantly improve the lives of 15,000 people in need each year on the East Side of Manhattan. Our English as a Second Language program provides high quality, interactive instruction to a diverse student body. We are seeking a volunteer to facilitate an English Conversation Group for our higher level English for Speakers of Other Languages students. The volunteer will be responsible to facilitating group discussion that encourages participants to practice their English speaking skills in a supportive environment. The Conversation Group will meet on Thursdays, 1:00-2:00, July 12 - August 30.

Description

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House was founded in 1894 by the Alumnae Association of Normal College (now known as Hunter College of the City University of New York) as a free kindergarten for the children of indigent immigrants. Since then, we have remained at the forefront of community advocacy and social and educational change.
