Volunteers are the heart and soul of PAW Team’s ability to provide free medical care to the companion animals of those experiencing homelessness and those living in extreme poverty. Without crucial help from people like you, we would not be able to alleviate the suffering and save the lives of the scores of pets that come through our doors every month.
For a number of reasons, we are not able to accept PAW Team clients as volunteers.
We accept volunteers age 16+. We welcome younger volunteers accompanied by an adult.
For those under 18, we do not have volunteer opportunities to work directly with animals.
Supply Distribution for Clients
We have a food bank and supply room that is open to our clients Tuesday through Thursday from 10am to 3pm. During those days we need a volunteer in charge of distributing food and supplies to our clients. This is a fairly easy task and it's a great way to get to know our clients and really help the community.
Office Duties
We are phasing out of paper records but we still use them. Therefore, we need volunteers to help with filing before and after each clinic.
Client Stories
We are always in need or written stories about our clients and their pets! We are looking for volunteers to spend some time with our clients while they wait for their clinic appointment and ask them a few questions about their pets and how they got to PAW Team.
Love taking pictures of adorable pets and their people? Pictures are the best way to tell PAW Team's story and we need as many pictures as we can get. We aim to have a photographer at every clinic. You can always borrow one of our iPhones if you don't have a fancy camera.
Transport VolunteerOur clients often struggle with reliable transportation. Therefore, we offer transportation services for pets only (we do not transport clients) to and from vet appointments at our clinic or spay/neuter appointments at the Oregon Humane Society. We require you to have a reliable vehicle, proof of current insurance, and a valid driver's license. Transport times are typically 8am drop off and/or 3pm to 4pm pickup. However, these times can be flexible with enough notice.

Mission Statement
The Portland Animal Welfare (PAW) Team saves lives and alleviates suffering by providing free veterinary care to the pets of people who are experiencing homelessness or living in extreme poverty.
Description
We provide free veterinary care to the pets of those experiencing homeless or those living in extreme poverty. To do so, we host free veterinary clinics staffed by volunteer veterinarians, veterinary technicians and other volunteers. We host weekly clinics during the week and roughly one weekend clinic a month. At each clinic we provide vaccines, deworming, and flea medication to each animal. Basic health problems such as skin, ear and eye infections are also treated, and donated animal food, leashes/collars, blankets, pet sweaters and other animal supplies are distributed. We are also offer free spay/neuter services to all of our clients.
