This outdoor hands-on class teaches the safe, easy and effective way to learn to ride on two wheels. Using this "balance first" method, parents help get their children rolling while the child does most of the work. Participants learn the basics of balancing, starting, stopping and steering a bike as well as proper helmet fit and adjustment. Volunteers will be given training on how to fit a helmet and how to make minor bike adjustments.
As a volunteer at this event, we need your help with the following:
o Assist instructors with bicycle preparation
o Removing bike pedals
o Lowering seats
o Bike sizing
o Tire inflation
o Brake check
o Provide assistance guiding children through the course
o Ability to work and stand in the sun for 3-4 hours
o Ability to bend
o Ability to jog behind the children’s bikes if necessary
