During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of both COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
At Brookdale Hospice, we understand that volunteers are an integral part of end of life care. Our volunteers make connections with terminally ill residents who need a hand to hold, a heart to listen, or have a story to share.
"Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touched."--Judy Blume
Volunteer companions provide our residents with social and emotion support. During regularly scheduled visits, volunteers participate in activities with the residents such as reading the newspaper or books, taking walks, listening to music, sharing stories and reminiscing, or providing friendship by simply being present in their lives at that particular moment.
Our volunteers are the true embodiment of Brookdale Hospice’s mission of enriching the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence, and integrity in their final journey in life.
Our art volunteers would hold a special place on our volunteering team. These special volunteers would sit beside with our patients and create a portrait of them for their families. These volunteers would be integral in creating a special memento for our patient's families to keep forever while providing companionship throughout the process of creation.
Brookdale Hospice serves people residing in their own residence, which may include private homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted and independent living communities, and memory care units. We have volunteer positions open in the North Metro(Anoka, Champlin, Blaine, North Oaks), Central Metro(Minneapolis, Saint Paul), South Metro (Edina, Eagan, Bloomington), and the West Metro(Minnetonka, Plymouth, Eden Prairie).
Most of our volunteers commit approximately 1-2 hours of their time each week. Our visiting times are flexible and individualized to what is best for the resident as well as the volunteer. Our volunteers are provided with all the training they may need and given the full support of our dedicated Brookdale Hospice Team.
Our Volunteer Coordinator, Dana, looks forward to hearing from each of you and start you on your journey.
