We have lots of dogs that need photos taken or updated to help them get adopted quickly! We are looking for someone who has experience in photography, owns a good camera, and is willing to take some time aside to help us take photos of our dogs and cats at our facility. We also welcome any photographers that would like to leave their watermark in the corner of the photos for advertising. We post our pets on Adoptapet.com, you can find them here: www.tinyurl.com/VIDApets

We use outdoor light so you won't need to be equipped with tripods or lights. There are also a few cats that may need photos every so often, but that's only if you're not allergic. All you would need to do is take the photos, edit them, crop them, and choose good ones to add to our shared Google Drive - and we'll do the rest! We will let you know which types of photos we're looking for (profile vs. social media). One major thing is that we are looking for people who have fairly flexible schedules, since we will be asking you to come in at times on short notice. Weekdays are often the times when we need photos.

Aside from taking photos and editing them, you will also need to take notes about the personalities of each dog, since you will be spending a fair amount of time with new dogs that need their bios written. Just some info on what they like (treats, toys, if they're scared of sudden noises) and their most defining traits like if they seem silly, extremely smart, or very mellow.

Please message us through VolunteerMatch if you're interested in helping out!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 50-60 cats and dogs per month - we rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and from the streets of Mexico. We also have spay and neuter operations and have saved thousands of animals already. www.vida4animals.org www.instagram.com/vidarescue www.facebook.com/vidarescue

Description

Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a non-profit organization working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.

We have found forever homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, with around 4-5 new adoptions taking place each week. Many of our dogs come from local high-kill shelters before they are euthanized and on the streets of both the US and Mexico. We also have spay/neuter operations in low-income neighborhoods in the US and in Mexico and have spayed/neutered thousands of pets.
