Volunteers are needed to provide childcare during Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Survivor Support Groups. Groups are held in the afternoon and evenings in various locations throughout Indianapolis. Groups cover a variety of topics aimed at empowerment and support for survivors. Child-care volunteers play a central role in our support groups by removing lack of child-care as a barrier for attendees.
Previous experience with children is not required but preferred. Training will be provided. We ask that all potential volunteers are ready to learn, listen and practice empathy.
Bilingual volunteers are greatly needed.
Facilitator time commitment:
- Initial volunteer training (A one-time, 6 hour training on a Saturday)
- 2 additional hours of training specific to facilitation skills and curriculum
- Commit to 6 months of volunteering
10 hours of continued education a year (provided by volunteer coordinator)
